WHAT IS CILA?

The Canadian Intercollegiate Lumberjacking Association (CILA) was formed in 1997 by four lumberjacking colleges with the purpose of providing a venue for all members to participate in a series of competitions. With the exception of a few select events, most rules and events are identical at all competitions, allowing the teams to tally points over the season, and the opportunity of becoming the C.I.L.A. Champions for that year. New member institutions are always welcome.

There are six schools currently registered as CILA members:

  • Algonquin College

  • Dalhousie University - Agricultural Campus

  • Maritime College of Forest Technology

  • McGill University - Macdonald Campus

  • Sir Sandford Fleming College

  • University of New Brunswick

There are four competitions held each season. The first is hosted by the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton, and generally occurs in october. The second is hosted by Sir Sandford Fleming College in Lindsay, Ontario and generally occurs in November. The third is hosted by McGill University - Macdonald campus in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, Quebec and generally occurs in January or February. The fourth and final competition is hosted by Dalhousie University - Agricultural Campus in Truro, Nova Scotia and generally occurs in March.
