Carley Archibald - UNB Woodmen

Coming to University can be daunting, whether it's your freshman year or the first year of your masters, and that feeling is compounded when you're brand new to the area. Carley Archibald, current Women's A Captain and Treasurer for the UNB Woodsmen team, knows all about this feeling. She joined UNB last year to start her masters program and was newly arrived in Fredericton when she just happened to hear about the UNB Woodsmen tryouts. The sales pitch worked some magic as she ended up joining the team and found a community to belong to - not to mention all the axes and saws!

From being the only rookie in her first year to transitioning to Team Captain in her second, Carley's growth in the sport has been astronomical. Calling her 1st year teammates, especially her then Captain Kat Campbell, as her catalysts for success and primary influences on her development, Carley is continuing the UNB Woodsmen Legacy with the team she now captains and built. Growth like Carley's isn't typical but her work ethic ensures that progress is certain. Local legends like Rod Cumberland, Tess Billing and Brittany MacLean popping in every now and then to share their wisdom certainly helps as well.

With two competitions left in the season, the UNB Women's A team is a good position to contend for the top though there will be fierce competition to see who triumphs in March. Looking forward to continuing on her path, Carley is excited to be finishing her masters program this year but looks to continue competing with the Maritime Lumberjack Association this summer.
