Louanne Marquis: McGill Loggersports

wangj306

Louanne Marquis has made a significant impact in Loggersports as Team Captain of the McGill Women’s A team and Assistant Coach. Now in her fourth year, her journey began with a referral from a friend to tryout for the sport.  She joined the A team in her first year despite no prior experience. From the start, she embraced the sport wholeheartedly, dedicating hours to training and refining her skills.

A key influence in her growth has been McGill’s head coach, Andréanne LaSalle, whose passion and dedication inspired Louanne to excel. Training with professionals like Stéphanie Naud, Max, and JP Mercier also shaped her development, leading to her debut in professional competition last summer alongside Mercier. Competing at this level was a dream come true, and she proved her skills by winning the Jill & Jill crosscut event at the Fryeburg Fair with her talented partner, Meghan Creswick.

Marquis is focused on finishing her CILA career strong, leading her team to a dominant start this season, including a major victory at UNB, where they won nine events and reached the podium in 13 out of 14 events. Last year, she won MVP and excelled in doubles with Marlene Herzog, an achievement that solidified her reputation as one of the top athletes in the league.  With her home competition coming up, Louanne is excited to see how the rest of the season plays out and hopes to make a strong showing at home!
